How is Psychotherapy different than Soulful Coaching? 


 

Therapy is generally viewed as "a look at the past in order to heal the events, traumas, beliefs, or hurts that happened there and have subsequently shaped how you see yourself, others, and the world around you." Therapy is generally utilized in some regular or ongoing fashion for a period of time and tends to work best when you and I build and maintain a strong, safe, trusted, and emotionally intimate connection. The consistency and regularity of appointments helps you move through past events (and the associated feelings) to solidly move into the present. 


 

Coaching is generally considered "building or moving forward from this moment onward." Coaching is geared towards helping you define and get clear on your wants and desires and is designed to assist you with deciding on actionable steps to get where you would like to go. Coaching does not have to happen in a regular or consecutive fashion. You may come in for a one-time coaching experience and come back on an as-needed basis. Some folks choose to work within a select time-limited fashion (such as a package of five sessions over ten weeks) to get make headway on their goals. Evaluating your current relationship dynamics and developing steps to take to create a more balanced partnership contribution

Assisting in ending, or moving on from, a relationship

Developing boundaries with previous unhealthy or toxic partnerships


 

I enjoy bringing humor, creativity, spirituality, and philosophy into our sessions to embrace the fullness of the human life experience. Our sessions will feel comfortable, causal, and like talking to a peer. I experience our time together as “collaborative” and as two “co-journeyers” walking together in life.
